Biography

Margaret Lawyer

Margaret began her musical education in the public schools of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, at age 10. After studying privately with two local teachers and playing with the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra, she went on to earn a Bachelor of Music degree in viola and music education from Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, where her teacher was violinist Yong-Ku Ahn. From 1975 to 1989 she took time off as a stay-at-home mom, but since then has returned to playing and performing with a variety of groups, including: Strings & Things, the Northern Neck Orchestra, the Saint Cecilia Trio, Blue Moon Strings, the York River Symphony Orchestra, the Courthouse Chamber Orchestra, Rappahannock Chamber Soloists, and the Wayne Metheny Gospel Band.
